Stroke Education

Stroke Education Series 

St. Luke’s provides daily education to patients, members and caregivers. This 7 day education series provides a comprehensive overview on stroke rehabilitation across the continuum. Education based on the National Stroke Associations – HOPE- the Stroke Recovery Guide. We invite family and caregivers to participate in group class’s onsite as well as review the power point presentations below.


Stroke Education Topics in:

Introduction to Stroke Rehabilitation                                                                                                                                             Sundays

Speech Therapy -   Types of Stroke, Cognition and Swallowing                                                                                             Tuesdays

Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy – Mobility, Balance, Equipment and Daily Activities                                 Wednesdays

Pharmacology and Nursing – Common Medications, Nutrition, Bladder, Bowel and Skin Care                                      Thursdays

Recreational Therapy - Safety, Reintegration to the Community                                                                                            Fridays

If able to attend classes they will take place in either the large or small dining room in the Stroke Unit from 11-12 every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

Also, attend our Stroke Support Group

  •   Meets every Third Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m. at room 200
  •   Open to the Public
