The recreational program of Team St. Luke's is a program of outdoor events, for sole recreational purposes, which targets all populations with disabilities. The clinics offer peer interaction and mentoring, education on the varied aspects of each activity and information on how to independently engage in these programs offered locally through organizations like Spokane Parks and Recreation. Each event is offered in a day or weekend clinic venue.
Recreational Events Offered:
- An annual event held at Clear Lake the 4th weekend of July. Participants have the opportunity to try water skiing, swimming and boating. This event is all inclusive, as there are participants with physical and cognitive impairments, and allows great opportunity for peer interaction and socializing.
Outdoor Recreation Experience
- This event is focused on outdoor activities often enjoyed in the Inland Northwest. Offered is adaptive fishing, archery, handcycling, canoeing and kayaking. Each of these sports are taught to participants so that they can then take the skills learned at the program and transfer them into their personal recreational lives.
- This is an educational session held at Mt. Spokane. Held during the adaptive downhill ski program, it introduces the adaptive ski equipment to participants, gives them a chance to get to know the instructors and coaches and provides a fun place for peer interaction.
All of the activities offered by Team St. Luke's are based on feedback from community members on interest areas and barriers to independent participation in these activities of interest. If there are any areas of interest that you do not see offered, please contact Team St. Luke's at (509) 473-6685.
